When studying felt difficult, how did you stay motivated?
Studying Japanese was sometimes challenging, especially when balancing classes with part-time work and job hunting. What helped me stay motivated was setting clear long-term goals. I came to Japan with a strong intention to build my career here, so improving my Japanese was not just a school requirement, it was essential for my future.
I also tried to enjoy the small daily progress, such as being able to have deeper conversations or understanding more at work and in daily life. Those moments made the effort worthwhile.
How did you first come across the company you joined?
I first encountered my company while searching for opportunities related to accounting and finance in Japan. Thanks to my previous experience in audit and financial analysis, I was able to leverage my background while continuing to improve my Japanese. I regularly checked job postings to stay informed and decided to apply to see what would happen.
I started as a part-time employee while studying, which gave me practical experience in a Japanese working environment.
Message to those with a dream of “I want to work in Japan”
Studying in Japan is both challenging and rewarding. There will be moments of difficulty, especially with the language and cultural differences, but those experiences help you grow.
If you are serious about building your future in Japan, I encourage you to take the leap. With effort, consistency, the right mindset — and a bit of opportunity and luck — many doors can open.
